YEREVAN. – The tragedy of Hiroshima must not repeat, representative of Japan's Embassy in Armenia (residence in Moscow) Takashi Kurai said ion Yerevan.
“All conflicts should be settled peacefully. I think in the changing world Armenia and Japan should cooperate on peace issues,” he said during the opening Hiroshima Stone for Peace.
He recalled that Japan's government is getting ready to open an embassy in Yerevan in early 2015.
“This will contribute to strengthening of cooperation on economic issues and culture,” the official said.
Head of Armenia-Japan parliamentary friendship group Samvel Farmanyan noted that relations between the two countries are developing intensively.
“Hiroshima Peace Stones are installed in more than 100 cities, but I am sure that not all are fully aware of the value of peace,” he said, adding that Armenia will never forget the help of Japan during the Spitak earthquake.
