YEREVAN. – Repatriated Armenian man who died soon after he was freed from Azerbaijani captive was tortured, the examination revealed.

The Armenian police received results of examination conducted after the death of Mamikon Khojoyan.

The examination showed the signs of petroleum products and psychotropic substances in the body of an old man. All injuries indicate that he was tortured.

Mamikon Khojoyan, 77, a resident of Verin Karmiraghbyur village of Armenia’s Tavush Region, was taken captive by Azerbaijan on January 28. He suffered from mental illness.

Azerbaijan returned the elderly to Armenia on March 4, and he died on May 20.
