YEREVAN. – An MP from Heritage party thanked Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus for delay in Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.

Tevan Poghosyan said he expressed his view on Armenia's accession immediately after September 3.

“I do not believe in Customs Union program. I expressed hope that the accession could not be easy,” he said.

Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Union was planned for July 1, but t here is no information whether the document would be signed.

Poghosyan said the Karabakh conflict will be used in the process of Armenia's joining the Union.

“Sometimes we can jokingly thank Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus that Armenia's accession is delayed,” he emphasized.

On September 3 Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan voiced country's intention to join Customs Union. As a result Armenia did not ratify the Association Agreement during Eastern Partnership summit held in Vilnius on November 28-29. A joint Armenia-EU statement was adopted.
