YEREVAN. – The concept of ‘just memory’ has been on the political agenda of Turkey for a long time.  The recent statement by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is one of the regular theories doomed to failure, analyst Ruben Melkonyan believes.

In his recent article published in the Turkish Policy Quarterly journal, Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoğlu said ‘unjust memory’ was created around the events of 1915.

“The ‘just memory’ concept that we have frequently employed during this process is critically important. In order for Turks and Armenians to understand what each of them has experienced, it is essential that they respect one another’s memory,” he wrote.

The Armenian analyst is confident this is another reviewed option of the famous Turkish idea that both parties suffered losses in 1915.

“The just memory implies that the victims from both sides should be remembered. This implies that genocide was committed not only against Armenians,” Melkonyan told reporters.

The analyst believes that Davutoglu's views are non-constructive, while Turkish FM himself experiences serious crisis as a politician and a theorist.
