Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) leader, serving PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been nominated AKP’s candidate for the forthcoming presidential election in the country.   

At the party conference on Tuesday, AKP Vice-Chairman Mehmet Ali Sahin announced that Erdogan will be their candidate in the presidential election, reported Milliyet daily of Turkey.

The presidential elections in Turkey will be conducted on August 10. If no one is declared the winner in the first round, a run-off will be held on August 24.
