YEREVAN.  – In order to reduce threats coming from other states against Armenia, peacekeeping contingent should be considered as an option, Russian political analyst said.

However, head of Caucasus Institute Vladimir Yevseyev said that it should be made clear who will represent the peacekeepers.

As to Karabakh conflict, the snipers must be removed, Yevseyev said during a space bridge titled “Modern security challenges in CIS area”.

“If we talk about Armenia's security on the whole, Russia has obligation to defend the country. Russia is ready to provide 100% assistance for security in the territory of Armenia,” he said.

The analyst does not believe Co-Chair Warlick's proposals were constructive as they implied Armenia must remove troops from the territories without any security guarantees in return.
 
“One should not offer reviewed version of the Madrid Principles, but seek new approaches,” Yevseyev added.
