YEREVAN. – The Armenian delegation to PACE is accused of inactivity that was reflected in the fact the delegates did not address questions to Azerbaijani leader. However, the Armenian delegates are confident it was a right move, the head of delegation Hermine Naghdalyan told reporters.

The issue had been discussed prior to the Strasbourg trip, and decision not to address Aliyev was made.

“If we asked questions, we would have given Azerbaijani leader a chance to tighten his anti-Armenian rhetoric and present an anti-Armenian show. We could not allow it,” she said.

The head of delegation noted that all delegates are experienced politicians and they have reached consensus.

“There are several issues that are worthy of raising at PACE, but we had only 30 seconds for the question without a chance to comment the answer. It was senseless,” Naghdalyan emphasized.

An MP from ruling Republican Party of Armenia, member of the Armenian delegation Naira Karapetyan, in turn, noted that during the session all aggression accumulated by Aliev against Armenian delegates was directed on the European parliamentarians, and thus, the president of Azerbaijan once again showed his true colors.

RPA MP Arpine Hovhannisyan, for her part, said they could not permit unflattering remarks against Armenia.
