YEREVAN. – Electric Networks of Armenia's work resembles the eighteenth century system, head of the Republican Union of Employers Gagik Makaryan told reporters.

He quotes employees of the company who are displeased with the situation.

“Many of them say that there is chaos. The equipment was installed 40 years ago,” Makaryan said.

At the same time he noted that the Public Services Regulatory Commission does noting to protect the rights of consumers.

“They are skilfully ignoring the issue as if there were no problems. There is an impression that Electric Networks will demand further increase in prices in a month, and the Commission will agree,” Makaryan emphasized.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission on Tuesday unanimously decided to increase the electricity price in Armenia by 3.85 drams (approx. $0.01), or by about 10 percent, as of August 1.
