YEREVAN. –  The latest article by Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu is distorting history, head of the Armenian Cause office Giro Manoyan said.

He believes this approach is typical for Turkish intellectuals and Ankara's diplomacy.

“Davutoglu expects positive response of Armenia and Diaspora to his article. However, one of the main goals is to settle Karabakh conflict. The EU and U.S. have already said the resolution of Karabakh conflict will be followed by Armenia-Turkey reconciliation,” he said.

In his recent article published in the Turkish Policy Quarterly journal, Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoğlu said ‘unjust memory’ was created around the events of 1915. 

“The ‘just memory’ concept that we have frequently employed during this process is critically important. In order for Turks and Armenians to understand what each of them has experienced, it is essential that they respect one another’s memory,” he wrote.

Manoyan, member of ARF Dashnaktustyun party, is convinced that denial policy continues, but is much softer.

“Turkey's moves, especially Erdogan's message, are considered as pleasant by the western political circles. It is clear that Turkish side will allegedly try to say something new, but  obviously the denial policy will continue. The point is the form of denial, the essence will not change,” Manoyan added.
