YEREVAN. – The rumors about an expected strong earthquake in Armenia are untrue, the National Seismic Protection Service has said in a statement.  

“The earthquakes that occurred on [Sunday,] July 6 and the next day [in the morning], [and] which were felt especially in Vanadzor and Spitak cities, have caused panic among the people.

“[But] the [National] Seismic Protection Service has issued no official statement on an expected earthquake up to this point, and the experts believe that there is no probability of a strong earthquake [in Armenia] and no cause for concern for the people. 

“There are no anomalies that form a basis for the prediction of a strong earthquake [in the country], [and] therefore there is no need to worry, or for panic,” the statement specifically reads.
