Former Georgian president Eduard Shevarnadze died at the age of 86. According to his press office, Shevarnadze passed away at around midday on Monday.

Eduard Shevarnadze was born in 1928 in Mamati village of Georgia SSR. He was the last foreign minister of the Soviet Union. Shevarnadze was elected a president of Georgia in 1995 and had to resign because of the Rose Revolution in 2003.
