YEREVAN. – Austria is concerned over human rights situation in Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz told reporters in Yerevan.
Commenting on the remark that Azerbaijan, despite problems with human rights, is presiding over the CoE Committee of Ministers ,Kurz recalled that the presidency is not granted for the merits, but in alphabetical order.
“We must clearly distinguish between the situation of human rights and the presidency. Azerbaijan has been elected, and presides in alphabetical order. This is an important fact,” he emphasized.
As to the human rights, official Vienna is concerned over situation in Azerbaijan. He noted that Austrian attaches importance to human rights.
“I will soon visit Azerbaijan and will use this opportunity to discuss situation on the ground, especially situation with political prisoners,” he added.
