Twenty-three years have passed since the terrible tragedy that occurred in Maragha.

The events, which unrolled in this village in northern Nagorno-Karabakh, stand out even against the general backdrop of the Azerbaijani military’s cruel and inhuman acts during the Karabakh War.  

Numerous Armenian elderly, women, and children of Maragha had become the victims of the atrocities of the Azerbaijani soldiers who had infiltrated into this village.

The ringleaders of the Maragha massacre, however, were awarded state prizes in Azerbaijan, and they are considered “heroes” and “fighters for freedom and independence” in the country.
