One of the largest social networks in the world, Facebook which is also a large distributor of news on the planet uses not automated system of algorithms for display of the most top events of the day. A team of editors determines what news will be seen by one billion daily users.

According to the Guardian, this is revealed in a leaked Facebook document.

According to the newspaper, team of 12 people places all the news on Facebook, they focus their attention on the well-known, mainly, the American information portals. Earlier Facebook reported that top news are selected on a number of factors, based on user activity, time frames, pages that are liked, which involves automated operation, , RIA Novosti reported.

According to the documents, Facebook news editors are guided by 10 news providers only: BBC News, CNN, Fox News, The Guardian, NBC News, The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Yahoo News or Yahoo. In addition, the editors have a prerogative to exclude news from the list if they do not represent a world event.

According to the newspaper, Facebook's management decided to abandon the approach of pure algorithms in 2014, after criticism, for insufficient display of disorders in the American city Ferguson, the State of Missouri, which were caused by a murder of the black teenager by a police officer.
