On September 1, a school opened in Alashan village—in Martakert Region of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh)—where 28 families from NKR’s Talish village have now settled, Talish prefect Vilen Petrosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He added that this school has 23 children from Talish.

Petrosyan noted that they moved the property of the abandoned and destroyed school of Talish to the newly opened school in Alashan, and also created facilities for children in this school.

The village prefect informed that five more places of lodging are being restored at present in Alashan, so that five more families from Talish may relocate to this village.

“The overall situation is fine,” added Vilen Petrosyan. “But when we had gone to Talish to move the school property to the new school, we found the village abandoned. We are saddened. It’s looted and destroyed [by the Azerbaijanis, and as a result of the four-day war which they had unleashed against Artsakh, in early April].”
