Symantec Corp. said it would acquire U.S. identity theft protection services company LifeLock Inc. for $2.3 billion, in a deal that it hopes will prop up sales at its Norton cybersecurity unit. The final agreement about the transaction is signed, Reuters reported.

It is expected that the transaction will complete in the first quarter of 2017. LifeLock has a market capitalization of close to $2 billion, while Symantec has a market capitalization of $14.8 billion.
