Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg will discuss regulation of social media with senior politicians in Dublin. It is expected that on April 2 he will visit offices of Facebook in the republic. The European headquarters of Facebook is in the capital of Ireland, Daily Mail reported quoting AP.
Zuckerberg will meet with three members of the International Grand Committee on Disinformation and Fake News - Hildegarde Naughton, James Lawless and Eamon Ryan, AP reported.
“During their discussions the deputies will raise a number of concerns, including: the regulation of social media, transparency in political advertising and the safety of young people and vulnerable adults,” their spokesman said.
The Committee is made up of international parliamentarians and investigates issues like data privacy, safety, security and sharing.
The trio have been vocal in demanding the regulation of social media platforms in recent years.
Earlier Zuckerberg urged to strengthen the state supervision of the Internet in areas like harmful content, election integrity, privacy and data portability.
