The American IT giant Microsoft is negotiating the purchase of the social network Discord for more than $ 10 billion, Bloomberg reports, citing sources familiar with the talks, RIA Novosti reported.

The agency notes that Discord is also in talks with other potential buyers, but no agreements have been made yet. Meanwhile, one of the agency's interlocutors says that the company would rather go public than go for sale.

Discord reportedly contacted Microsoft earlier to gauge interest in the company. According to sources, talks with the social network were led by Phil Spencer, head of xbox (Microsoft's game consoles department).

The American company Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. It is headquartered in Redmond, Washington. The company specializes in software development, in particular, it is the developer of the Windows operating system.

The social network Discord, created in 2015, was originally conceived as a platform for gamers. It allows users to communicate via video and voice, as well as exchange messages. According to Discord, the social network has over 100 million monthly active users.
