India has confirmed 200,000 COVID-19 cases in a day - this is the largest number of those infected and died in one day since the start of the pandemic in the country, the health ministry reported.

The rise in the number of cases in India has continued for the 36th day, as a result of which the number of people receiving treatment for COVID has grown from 135,900 to more than 1.4 million.

India has the second-largest number of detected cases of coronavirus in the world. According to the latest data from the health ministry, more than 14 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country. More than 12.4 million people defeated the disease, 173,000 people died from coronavirus and related diseases.
