Enhanced measures against the spread of coronavirus, which has been imposed by Japanese authorities in several prefectures of the country, expired on Monday, TASS reported.

The regime had been in effect on Japanese territory since late January.

The intensified measures included restrictions on the work of public catering and other establishments, as well as the holding of public events.

Japan has been fighting another pandemic wave caused by the spread of the omicron strain since the beginning of the year. During peak days, the country recorded about 100,000 new cases of infection each day. Meanwhile, in recent weeks, the trend has gone down, with about 40,000 cases of infection detected per day.
