The head of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, said during an interview with TED that he does not have his own house, so he sleeps with friends, Business Insider reports.

"I don't even own a place right now, I'm literally staying at friends' places," Elon Musk said in a video interview published Monday with Chris Anderson, head of conference organizers TED.

"If I travel to the Bay Area, which is where most of Tesla's engineering is, I basically rotate through friends' spare bedrooms," Musk added.

In 2020, Musk posted on Twitter announcing his intention to sell his California home. In December 2021, the property was sold for $30 million, with Musk himself living in a prefabricated rented house.

According to the billionaire, he does not spend a lot of money on personal expenses - Musk does not have a yacht or mansions. Musk's ex-girlfriend, singer Grimes, also previously stated that he sometimes lived below the poverty line.
