An unexploded bomb weighing 300 kg, left over from the war in Indochina in the middle of the last century, was defused in northern Vietnam, Zan Chi newspaper reported.

The projectile was found while repairing a bridge in the northern Vietnamese province of Son La. Experts have determined that the find is an aerial bomb dropped on the country by French aircraft during the War of Resistance, which lasted from 1946 to 1954. The servicemen of the sapper unit of the Vietnam People's Army, who arrived at the scene, removed the projectile from the construction site and neutralized it.

According to the Vietnamese National Committee for the Elimination of Unexploded Ordnance and Chemical Contamination, it will take at least three centuries for the country to completely clear its territory of wartime unexploded ordnance. The total area of ​​explosive territories in Vietnam is about 6.8 million hectares, or about 20% of the entire territory of the country.
