UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths, who was planning trips to Turkey and Russia this week, tested positive for the coronavirus. Griffiths announced this on Twitter on Monday.

“I regret to say that I tested positive for COVID today. I am following health guidance, canceled travel, and isolating at home,” Griffiths said in a statement via Twitter on Monday.

Griffiths on Monday at a briefing at the UN announced plans to visit Turkey this week to discuss the situation in Ukraine with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In addition, the Deputy Secretary General of the UN admitted that he would soon go to Russia.
