The Italian authorities have announced the cancellation of “Covid certificates”—as of Sunday—which were previously mandatory for visiting public places in Italy.

These certificates were issued based on a negative coronavirus test result, proof of vaccination, or illness report.

Now a certificate based on a negative test result will be enough to enter Italy—from May 1 to 31.

“Covid certificates,” however, will still be required to visit medical facilities and care centers in Italy.

The exception will expire on December 31.

Also, Italian authorities have begun to lift the mandatory requirement for wearing face masks indoors.
