Microsoft has announced the release of Defender antivirus for Apple gadgets, Windows Central reported.

 The proprietary utility is now available on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers.

Despite the fact that the antivirus became a cross-platform program, the capabilities of the utility will differ depending on the operating system.

For example, the mobile application will work as a simplified dashboard that connects to existing antivirus software or implements additional protection.

On Android devices, antivirus protection will also be supplemented with the ability to scan the gadget's memory for malware. Defender will also check links before opening them to protect against phishing.

Mobile devices from Apple on iOS and iPadOS will have fewer features available compared to Android. Owners of iPhones and iPads will be protected only from phishing links.

Defender in Windows, in turn, will be supplemented with new functions, including a monitoring panel where users will have access to data from other antiviruses.
