Dubai is building a giant mega-resort in the shape of the moon at a cost of $5 billion. With enough money, you can do just about anything in Dubai - and now you can add another one to the list - walk on the moon, or at least book a luxury suite there. This week, Canadian architectural firm Moon World Resorts announced plans to build a $5 billion resort that will resemble Earth's orbital cousin, Robb Report reports.

The project is designed to help visitors experience space tourism. The area around the resort's lunar surface, dubbed the 'lunar colony,' is designed to evoke the feeling of being on the surface of the moon (or at least very close to it). In addition, visitors can plan to book one of 300 private boutique residences, known as sky villas, which will be housed in the disc-shaped superstructure of the main building. Buy a villa, and you'll get access to a private membership club on the grounds.

Moon Dubai will have a significant impact on all aspects of the UAE economy, including tourism, transportation, commercial and residential real estate, infrastructure, financial services, aviation and space, energy, agriculture, technology and, of course, education, say the co-founders Sandra G. Matthews and Michael R. Henderson, Arabian Business reported.

Guests can take advantage of a nightclub, an events center, a community lounge, a spa and even its own "moon shuttle" that will take you around the hotel. There are also plans for the structure to serve as a hub for space agencies and their astronauts planning their future missions into space.

The overall construction is planned for two years, and when completed, it will be over 224 meters tall. When completed, the project is expected to comfortably accommodate at least 2.5 million visitors.
