An airport strike is underway in Germany, leading to widespread paralysis of air traffic in the country. The strike began at night at Hanover airport, the only one of the seven airports involved in the conflict that is allowed to work at night. According to the Ver.di trade union, Hanover Airport has virtually ceased operations. The organizers of the strike intend to prevent all flights at the airports in Frankfurt-am-Main, Munich, Stuttgart, Bremen, Hamburg and Dortmund, if possible, reports DW.

According to the ADV, nearly 300 thousand passengers will suffer because of the cancellation of 2,340 flights. The association called what is happening an unprecedented escalation of the labor conflict. Lufthansa alone was forced to cancel about 1,300 flights. The new cancellations took place virtually immediately after a large-scale computer failure at the airports, which was only eliminated on February 15.
