YEREVAN. - Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales threatens to temporary delete information on the site as a sign of protest against adoption Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) bill in the U.S. The voting for the new bill will be held at the U.S. House of Representatives this week, newsru.com reports.
In case SOPA is adopted, authorities will have the right to demand the Internet providers to block access to sites with pirated materials. American media associations RIAA and MPAA support the adoption of the bill.
Besides Wikipedia, Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter and many other Internet-giants are against SOPA adoption.
If SOPA is adopted, U.S. authorities will have the right to control the web-sites, which are blamed to uploading pirated materials, Internet-giants claim.
