YEREVAN. - It is a great mistake to consider denial of the Armenian Genocide as freedom of speech, Head of the Oriental studies institute of Armenia’s National Academy, professor Ruben Safrastyan told reporters on Monday.

“In many countries the ideology of the Nazis is forbidden, but it is not and cannot be considered violation of freedom of speech,” Safrastyan stressed.

As Safrastyan mentioned, the bill on criminalization of the denial of Armenian Genocide might cause tension for the Armenians in Turkey.

France’s National Assembly passed on December 22 the bill criminalizing the Armenian Genocide denial.
