Foreign policy doctrine introduced by Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu as a policy of “zero problems with neighbors” smoothly transformed into the wording “zero neighbors without problems”, Russian political analyst Andrey Areshev told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, such a situation is definitely a result of very effective tactics of Washington aimed at building “enforcement partnership” in which each of the “partners” gets necessary arguments, corresponding to its geopolitical, economic, social and cultural peculiarities.

“For Ankara, the success of its growing ambitions in the Middle East seems to be more achievable in a partnership with the United States than in confrontation with the great power. To what extent these hopes are justified is debatable,” said political scientist, an expert for the Institute of Oriental Studies, Academy of Sciences.  

“With regard to the dynamics of Russian-Turkish dialogue on regional issues, the differences between Moscow and Ankara regarding developments in the Middle East and around Syria, of course, can affect the quality of their interactions in the South Caucasus.

On the other hand, improvement of an abnormal situation in relations between Moscow and Tehran because of intrigues of American and other strategists supposes intensification of dialogue aimed at strengthening security in the Caucasus region (including a variety of formats). Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, having a long line of contact with Iran from Meghri to Horadiz, can not but be important participants in this dialogue,” Areshev said.
