TBILISI. – Georgia’s ex-President Eduard Shevardnadze is highly concerned over the demographic situation in Georgia. According to him, the Georgian nation is ‘on the brink of extinction,’ while authorities do nothing to stimulate large families.

He believes that Georgians are fewer than Armenians and Azerbaijanis in Georgia. Moreover, Georgian authorities run a policy ‘Georgia without Georgians.’

Population in neighboring states multiples occupying borders of Georgia, Georgia-Online reports.

Shevardnadze believes the only solution will be found if billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili comes to power. He is a real Georgian, and will care for the nation, he concluded.
