A Lufthansa flight from Germany to India was forced to turn around mid-air on June 15 due to a bomb threat, according to Germany’s federal police, as reported by dpa.

The Boeing 787-9 had departed from Frankfurt am Main en route to Hyderabad. While in flight, authorities received a bomb threat. Indian authorities denied the aircraft permission to land, prompting the plane to turn around over Bulgaria and return to Frankfurt.

All 283 passengers were accommodated overnight in the airport’s transit zone. On the morning of June 16, they resumed their journey to Hyderabad on the same flight, Deutsche Welle reports.

Police have not disclosed where the bomb was allegedly placed, how the threat was received, or whether anything suspicious was ultimately found on board, citing the ongoing investigation.
