Turkish MP of the ruling Justice and Development Party Ismet Ucma, who a few days ago announced that an apology for the 1915 events is necessary during an interview given to the Armenian Akos paper, repeated his words.

During an interview given to the Turkish T24 website he stressed the tragic events that occurred in 1915.

To the question, what response the announcement on apologizing to Armenians received, Ucma answered that the responses inside the party were mostly positive

"The society received the announcement with inspiration. I honestly share this sorrow and I am worried about what happened," he said.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, in an interview given to the Istanbul Armenian Akos paper, Ucma announced that the deportations of 1915 were wrong, and Turkey should apologize to the Armenians for those events. The MP mentioned that a great tragedy occurred at that time.

“If there were armed forces, militaries should fought against them but not hurt innocent population. That is what happened in 1915. I don’t consider it to be genocide but the deportations were wrong. In that context I apologize to the Armenians,” Ismet Ucma said.
