Armenian News-NEWS.am’s reporter was able to find the shack where Davtyan, together with her one-year-old child and 13-year-old sister, was living for the past two months. The shack is semi-destroyed by fire which, according to the neighbors, had occurred one week prior to the incident.

At present, it is difficult to tell whether there is a connection between the burning of the shack and of the young woman’s body. After the fire, Mari Davtyan had lived with a certain Onik.

The identity of the person, who is detained in connection with the burnt body, is not yet disclosed. The police are studying the circumstances of the incident.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the police discovered Friday, at the basement of the damaged building of Gyumri’s former Polytechnic Institute, the body of a woman who was burned and subsequently torn to pieces by animals. Seventy-percent of the body was burned. And according to Gyumri Police Chief Varuzhan Shashikyan, the investigation will determine the cause of the murder. He did not deny this was a murder, and added that after the killing the body was burned to eliminate the traces.
