Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed the start of a large-scale Israeli offensive in Gaza City to crush the radical Hamas movement.
Netanyahu made the statement before testifying in a corruption trial, Ynet reports.
“We have begun an intensive operation in Gaza City,” the Israeli PM said in the courtroom.
Netanyahu noted his busy schedule, which was due to these circumstances, and asked the court to reschedule the regular hearings with his participation.
