Scientists of the US North-West University are developing advanced programs for smartphones, which will be able to detect signs of depression of the phone owner. No complicated equipment is needed for that. All the necessary sensors like GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi are already installed in the device.

As Vesti.ru reports, the scientists develop individual algorithms which will distinguish the depressed mood from the normal one. They include the person’s location, activity, communication and mood.

If the program notices that the owner is depressed it can automatically sent a text message to the relatives.

As the scientists mention, the project Mobilyze has been already tested on 8 patients and helped them overcome depression.
