YEREVAN.- After a short speech at Liberty Square, Raffi Hovannisian called on his supporters to head to Baghramyan Avenue where presidential residence is situated.

Police officers tried to block Mashtots Avenue, but thousands of opposition supporters closed the traffic way and are moving to Baghramyan Avenue, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from the site.

“The celebrations are over, foreign guests are on their way to the airport. Now, carrying Constitution and candles, we will go hand in hand to Baghramyan 26 – our residence,” Hovannisian said and called on the police to open the road.

The opposition has reached Baghramyan Avenue where the road is blocked by police equipped with truncheons and shields. The traffic is blocked.

Addressing the authorities and law enforcers, Hovannisian called to open way to Tsitsernakaberd through Baghramyan Avenue promising not to storm the state buildings. He promised it would be a peaceful procession to the Armenian Genocide memorial.
