The village and neighborhood mayors of Adıyaman Province of “civilized” Turkey, which wishes to become a European Union member, staged a pretty repulsive form of protest against the German Bundestag’s passing of the resolution that recognizes Armenian Genocide.

The mayors had prepared a banner with the pictures of Bundestag member—and German Turk—Cem Özdemir—who is also Co-Chairman of the German political party Alliance ‘90/The Greens, a consistent proponent of and preacher for Armenian Genocide recognition, and the person behind the aforesaid resolution—, and of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and written “We condemn,” underneath these photos, according to İHA news agency of Turkey.  

In addition, there was a German national flag under Merkel’s photo, whereas an Armenian national flag under Özdemir’s photo.

The “civilized” mayors took turns in spitting at these two pictures, and subsequently, they tore up and burned the banner.

On June 2, the Bundestag, the lower house of the German parliament, formally recognized the Armenian Genocide, with the aforesaid resolution and with only one vote against and one abstention. The resolution also notes that the Bundestag regrets that the German government at the time did nothing to stop this crime against humanity, and therefore the Bundestag also acknowledges the respective historical accountability of Germany.
