Sanitek considers the criminal case against the company to be illegal and groundless, said company’s lawyer Armen Harutyunyan on Friday.

The criminal case was opened in February of this year on charges of tax evasion. Recalling the background, the lawyer noted that the application of tax legislation was a stumbling block.

According to him, when the company began its activity in the country 4.5 years ago, its leadership was assured that all rights would be strictly observed, regardless of possible changes in legislation.

He noted that the company previously fell under the law exempting from income taxation. Then the legislation has changed, as since January 2018 the tax code has entered into force. Since the company has the right to choose under which law to work, Sanitek has asked the authorities to work as before and the authorities agreed. After the change of government, the company again turned to the authorities on the same issue and again received a positive response.

However, a criminal case has been initiated in February 2019 into malicious tax evasion. According to the lawyer, the initiation of the case was accompanied by numerous violations.

For its part, the company filed a lawsuit against City Hall’s office, assuring that the company has nothing to do with any political force.
