Tthere are criminal cases that are just strange in Armenia, member of the constituent committee of the National Agenda party Avetik Chalabyan told reporters on Saturday.

According to Chalabyan, he understands the cases when former officials committed abuses, and there are a large number of arguments in this regard, and this gives rise to criminal proceedings against them. 

“But there are also criminal cases that are simply strange for me,” he said. “One of them is a case related to Arsen Babayan (former Deputy Chief of Armenian parliament’s staff -ed.) Its legal basis is generally incomprehensible. The likelihood that this business will reach a logical point is very small. Naturally, all this is done with political overtones.

According to him, it must be remembered that when criminal cases do not find an acceptable solution for the parties in the courts of our country, they are sent to the European Court of Human Rights.

“Of course, now the ECHR will be “flooded” with cases from Armenia, but we will see its rules. I think that most of these cases will simply collapse,” he said.
