YEREVAN. – The functions carried out by the National Security Service (NSS) are related to the interests of each citizen of the Republic of Armenia and his safety. I have said many times that I consider Armenia's internal and external security the priority of the priorities. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during today's solemn session dedicated to national security servant’s day.
"The NSS has accomplished its task over the past 1.5 years," Pashinyan said. “Most of the NSS activities, the vast majority are invisible to the public.
Unfortunately, we [Armenia] are in a region where the situation is very complex, it’s periodically aggravated, and we will have long-term security challenges. Moreover, in connection with the international, regional situation as well."
He noted that according to the latest data, today Armenia was ranked among the safest countries in the world. "A conflict-having country with two borders closed out of four is suddenly appears among the world's safest countries," the PM said. "These are things that, unfortunately, are not noticed."
