Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, met in Georgia with Armenian cargo companies’ drivers who have parked their trucks nearby Tbilisi for more than a week now because of the traffic jam at Upper Lars due to snowstorm.
Papikyan and Armenian Ambassador to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan listened to the concerns of these drivers, and discussed options for assistance and mitigating the situation.
The drivers mentioned that they had been brought food from the Armenian embassy for which they were grateful.
They proposed to wait, not in Georgia, but in Armenia where they would be more comfortable. The ambassador suggested that they would provide a car for them at the same time every day, and would take several of these drivers to Tbilisi to buy food at reasonable prices.
