- Two Armenian soldiers have been found killed.
Private Mher Hovhannisyan was found at a military unit with a lethal firearm injury in his head area.
According to the investigation, he has committed suicide. The criminal case has been launched.
Another Armenian soldier has received a lethal firearm injury following the shootings that began after the Azerbaijani side opened fire in the Verin Shorzha border section of Gegharkunik Province.
According to the defense ministry, the situation is currently under control, and there are no shootings.
- The Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Azerbaijan has disseminated a communiqué accusing Armenia’s Armed Forces of firing on the combat positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces, from Monday to Wednesday.
According to the Armenian defense ministry, it is obvious that this communiqué is another miserable attempt to cover up Azerbaijan’s recent provocations against the sovereign territories of Armenia and Tuesday’s killing of Junior Sergeant, a contract serviceman of the Armenian Armed Forces.
- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s visit to Armenia has started; he is already in Armenia.
Acting FM Ara Aivazian met the Iranian FM at Zvartnots International Airport.
The two later held a meeting, during which the Armenian acting FM said that Azerbaijan is trying to create new geopolitical realities.
"Undoubtedly, this encroachment against Armenia's territorial integrity is a direct consequence of the war unleashed on September 27, 2020, by Azerbaijan against the people of Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)], their right to self-determination and life, as well as the inadequate international and regional response to Azerbaijan's actions towards undermining the regional peace," the acting FM noted.
Armenian acting PM Nikol Pashinyan also met Iranian FM.
During the meeting, the two have discussed steps aimed at resolving the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The Iranian FM stressed his country's interest in ensuring stability in the region and in fully preserving and ensuring Armenia's territorial integrity.
Pashinyan and Zarif touched also upon the further development of cooperation between the two countries in several domains.
- Wednesday was the deadline to submit to the Central Electoral Commission the electoral lists of the political forces planning to run in the snap parliamentary elections in Armenia on June 20.
The campaign headquarters of the "Armenia" bloc has already confirmed to Armenian News-NEWS.am the top 20 on the electoral list of this bloc headed by second President Robert Kocharyan.
The Armenian ruling party Civil Contract Party has also submitted the electoral list to Central Electoral Commission.
There are 161 MP candidates on this list, and four of them are from national minorities of the country.
- As of Wednesday morning, 130 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, and the total number of these cases has reached 222,269 in the country.
Also, 11 more deaths from COVID-19 were registered, making the respective total 4,411 cases.
The number of people who have recovered over the past one day is 323, the total respective number so far is 211,957.
