This is neither the first nor the second time by Azerbaijan; naturally they will provoke, but the Kapan airport shall operate. Robert Ghukasyan, Governor of Syunik Province of Armenia, said this on Sunday, in Kajaran city of Syunik, commenting on the shootings of the Azerbaijani side in the direction of the Kapan city airport in Armenia.

"We are sure that shooting at the targeted plane is a bigger issue, it is not an Armenian-Azerbaijani issue because the plane and the route in general are registered, and we cannot give in to their every provocation. First of all, it is very important news that an airport is operating in Kapan, there is a plane that reaches from Yerevan to Kapan in 45 minutes and vice versa. This is very important, it has strategic significance, and everything shall be done so that there be airports not only in Kapan, but also in various cities [of Armenia], and it works as an infrastructure," said Ghukasyan.

When asked by a reporter whether he gives security guarantees to the people, he said that everyone knows what is happening in the region.

"What guarantees are we talking about? Azerbaijan provokes every day, but that does not mean that we should stop living. If we stop living, developing, yes, Azerbaijan will achieve its goal. We need to be united, consolidated," said the governor of Syunik.

He added that everyone in Syunik should be united because there is an external threat.
