The scandal in the Sofitel hotel which put an end to the political career of the IMF President Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was made up by people linked to his political opponent French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Strauss-Kahn said in an interview with the Guardian newspaper.

Strauss-Kahn specifically stated that if there were no scandal, he would participate in the presidential elections as a candidate from the Socialist Party.
