YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who on Thursday attended the Rio+20—that is, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development—also held bilateral meetings in Rio de Janeiro.   

In his meeting with FM Raymond Tshibanda of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, arrangement was reached on establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries, MFA press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am

Also, both minister discussed the possibilities for cooperation within international organizations, and the preparations for the International Organization of La Francophonie Summit to be convened in Kinshasa this October. 

Next, Edward Nalbandian met with Sri Lankan FM Gamini Lakshman Peiris. 

They reflected on stimulating political dialogue, the avenues for forming a legal and contractual framework, economic cooperation, and developing cultural ties. 

Also, they agreed to hold consultations between the MFAs of both countries. And Minister Peiris invited his Armenian colleague to Sri Lanka.  

And along the lines of the aforesaid Conference, Armenia’s FM also partook in the meeting of the leaders of the delegations from the International Organization of La Francophonie-member countries.
