YEREVAN - As of the end of the first quarter of 2012, the gross external debt of Armenia has made $7.34 billion, the Central Bank of Armenia informed.
About 51.6% or $3.78 billion of it falls to external public debt of the government and the Central Bank. The 20.6% or $1.5 billion falls to commercial banks and credit organizations and the remaining 27,9% or $2 billion is the debt of other sectors of economy. Compared with 2011, the gross debt has decreased and reached $49.1million which is conditioned with decrease of debt level of the private sector.
The external debt of financial institutions has declined to $104 million. In other segments of private sector it made $21.7 million. In the meantime, the government debt has increased to $72.8 million.
