YEREVAN. – Azerbaijani side has no intention to start war, they are simply trying to provoke concern of the Armenian population, Major General Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan said commenting on Azerbaijani shelling towrads Armenian border villages.

Ter-Tadevosyan, participant of the Karabakh war, said Azerbaijan has its own internal contradictions and people of different nationalities who are reluctant to fight.

“They are not ready for war, and many experts share my opinion. There is no smell of war. Besides, our Defense Ministry is taking certain moves,” he said.

He is convinced that shots are heard each year during the harvest time, but the shots are not that dangerous. 

“Unless the Armenian side retaliates, there will be an impression that we are afraid. I think that retaliation must necessarily take place, but it has to be smart and deliberate, not hasty, it is not football,” he emphasized.

The border villages of Tavush region were intensively shelled during the recent days. The adversary is firing towards houses, gardens and pastures.
