A magnitude 2.6 earthquake occurred, on Tuesday at 10:47pm local time in Armenia, 10 km southeast of Yeghegnadzor city, informed the Ministry of Emergency Situations National Seismic Protection Service.

The tremor measured magnitude 3 at the epicenter, and its hypocenter was 10 km beneath the surface.

The quake was felt in Yeghegnadzor and the nearby settlements.

The seismic activity, however, caused no destruction in the Vayots Dzor Region, Governor Harutyun Sargsyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted that the people residing in Yeghegnadzor and the nearby communities had just felt that it was an earthquake, but there was no panic.

“They felt [it] very lightly; there is no [health] complaint, alarm, damage,” the governor stated.
