YEREVAN. – Opening of European Public Law Organization (EPLO) office in Armenia will give an opportunity to Armenian lawyers to work with their European colleagues. This was stated by director of EPLO Armenian office Grigor Minasyan during a joint press conference with President of EPLO Board of Directors Spyridon Flogaitis (photo).

Minasyan said since its independence Armenia has been making great efforts for integration into Europe's legal field, and today this led to Armenian lawmakers' becoming full members of the European legal system.

“EPLO is a serious international organization with a number of member states and dozens of globally recognized universities and other academic institutions. As a result of long-term efforts by Professor Flogaitis and EPLO, we can say that today the first and the only branch in the region is opening in Armenia,” Minasyan said.

He noted that opening of the Armenian branch will enable young lawmakers and students of law schools to undergo trainings in the leading universities and participate in the conferences in Europe and elsewhere, to publish their works in the leading international magazines.

“On the way of development of Armenian legislation, it is especially important to take advantage of the resources of this prestigious international organization the professional network of which involves world-famous legal scholars. Yerevan branch, in our opinion, will increase organization's presence, whether qualitative or quantitative, in Armenia,” he emphasized.

Spyridon Flogaitis, in turn, noted importance of the fact that Armenia had ratified the International Treaty establishing the EPLO.

“We are opening EPLO branch in Armenia which will have great influence on the region. We are ready to expand our presence and cooperation,” he added.

The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) was created in 2007. The members are 14 countries, six international organizations and public agencies, as well as 64 universities and institutes.
